My First Course!

Изображение
Hi folks 🙋 I have finally finished working on my course💪it took my mental arm and a leg to produce it, and I am aware it's not perfect, still I am very proud of my creation. I have tried to implement all gained knowledge I have had over these years working with different level and proficiency students. As the majority of my students mostly struggled with speaking, which I consider to be the hardest in any language, I decided to create a course that would focus on boosting speaking skills. Aaand ta-da💣! Here is my course! Before creating the course I have asked myself a question: what motivates people to learn languages, especially in this digital era when you can speak any language of the world with one click of a Google Translate button. And somehow I recalled my uni days when we had exchange students from Turkiye, who obviously were male and gorgeous, a classic of the genre, I remember fancying one of them so m uch, that it motivated me to learn the language. I wanted to unde

Connecting People aka Connectivism

Hello everyone!🙆 Today I would like to talk about trends in education and the importance of connections🙀. Don't worry it is not an article about nepotism and criminal affairs in the filed of education, it is about how we learn today. Also, I would like to give you a short review on George Siemens's article "Connectivism: A learning Theory for the Digital  Age", which has shifted my vision of what teaching and learning look like in current times. This year I have done a postgraduate course on Blended Learning. I don't want to load your brain with heavy academical definition of what it is, but would shortly describe it as a mix of online and offline learning. This connection of learnings has become a ground for a learning theory called Connectivism, which according to G. Siemens is "the integration of principles explored by chaos, network, and complexity and self-organization theories"😵😲 speaking in close-to-human language Connectivism is an educationa

Creating a content with a new tool ChatGPT

Hi! It's me again👧 Today I want to talk about content. Nowadays having so many Learning Management Systems aka LMS, platforms and programs and having so many opportunities to support and facilitate a online/offline lesson, a lot of educators started facing another problem-producing content. Modern students are so picky, easy to lose focus, and let's be honest, not very diligent in their majority, so that a lot of teachers have to find different ways of delivering the lesson to make it not only productive and impactful, but also interesting, engaging and fun. And here is where a new AI tool comes out to the stage-ChatGPT!  ChatGPT  is a large language model developed by  OpenAI , which is based on the GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) architecture. It is designed to generate human-like text based on the input it receives, and can be used for a variety of applications such as  language translation , chatbots, and text completion. ChatGPT has been trained on a massive amou

LMS I recommend to use

Hello dear readers!  In my other post I covered topics of Learning Management Systems and the pros and cons of using one, and you may wonder which one I use myself in my teaching. So here is what is use and recommend to use as part of your teaching as well. When selecting a  Learning Management  System (LMS), it is important to consider the features it offers to ensure that it meets the needs of the establishment you work at or the people you work with. Here are some of the most important features to look for in an LMS: Course creation  and management: An LMS should allow you to create and manage courses easily, including the ability to  upload course materials , create assignments, and track student progress. Content delivery : The LMS should support a variety of  multimedia content , such as videos,  audio files , and  interactive simulations , and should be able to deliver content to learners on multiple devices, including smartphones and tablets. User management : The LMS should ma

LMS and Teaching online

Hi! It's me again 😀 In the previous post I have shared some of the difficulties I have faced as an educator. However, I haven't mentioned about the advantages of teaching online, which I find prevailing over negatives. As one of the most important positive features, I would like to say that t eaching online gives a great opportunity to deliver  educational content  and facilitate learning through digital platforms and technologies, such as  online learning management systems (LMS) , which I want to elaborate on in this post. A modern Learning Management System (LMS) is a  software application   designed to deliver and manage educational content and resources online. It provides a platform for creating and delivering   online courses ,   managing student enrollment.  Moreover, it  also engages with students through  online discussions  and feedback, and assesses student progress through  digital assignments  and assessments.  Online teaching  can be conducted asynchronously, al

What Is the Hardest about Teaching Online and Using Technology in Teaching?

Hi people!  Let's talk about What Is the Hardest about Teaching Online and Using Technology in Teaching today? Student 1: Thank you so much! And when you have a time, please have a look at this new app, please, I think its a blast! Me: Ok, I will. Thank you, for being such a lovely and diligent student. That's all for today. Hope to see you next week the same time. Have a great day! Bye (waves). Click.. click.. I shut the windows down and close the lid of my computer with a sense of pride and self-importance: I am actually doing something valuable, I am helping people to be better, achieve their goals, be closer to their dreams. Isn't it happiness? I wish all the student were like this Korean girl from Pusan, whom I secretly call "megalobrain" as her English-name is Megan and whom to teach is a great pleasure and self-improvement, as whatever homework is assigned she is always 100% ready for the lesson. I sometimes think I should be paying her for teaching me abou

My First Digital Lesson

Изображение
created by Edutopia In 2016 I was doing two jobs: one as an English teacher, working at a local run-of-the-mill education center, and the other as a nail artist at a very famous Nail Salon. I enjoyed both jobs. First one gave me a sense of importance and fulfillment, the second would give me freedom to be creative and meet new people as well as make friends.  Nail Salon was the place that gave me the best connections. There I met an awesome yoga trainer, found a good kindergarten for my daughter, found my personal astrologist and numerologist, a very knowledgeable travel agent and many  many other important people for my life. But most importantly I found my first online student. One of my clients mentioned that she was looking for an English teacher to improve it for her work. I, self-consciously, offered my services. She agreed! However, the only nuance was the the lady was leaving to Switzerland the next week and she wanted to have online lessons. I didn't know how to conduct a
